The high flexibility gain offered by our modern gas and dual fuel engines is particularly convincing for the power plant operator.
The dual fuel series can operate on a wide range of liquid and gas fuels, and switching between the fuels is done without any interruption during operation of the plant.
The rapid start-up of the engines in less than five minutes from standstill up to full load is guaranteed and cannot be achieved by any other technology. In addition, the speed of the load increase of the already running engine is unmatched.
The latest series of our highly efficient gas engines achieve electrical efficiencies of close to 50% in single cycle operation. This high electrical efficiency can be greatly increased by the combined cycle engine usagewith a MAN steam turbine.

Our gas engines achieve overall plant efficiencies of over 90% in combined heat and power stations (CHP), where the thermal energy content of all the available media, such as exhaust gas, lube oil or cooling water, is extracted for further use.
In addition to the conceptual design of these three different application forms for gas power plants in the power range from a few MW to over 300 MW, we develop the appropriate system solution for our customers. Our scope of delivery ranges from subsupplies of the engine gensets and partial deliveries to full EPC power plants.

MAN Diesel & Turbo a pioneer of gas engines developed the first large bore gas engine that went into operation in 1903 with a remarkable power output of 1500 hp. By 1940 the development of this engine series increased output by well over 650% to a whopping 10,000 hp. This series of engines were mainly used to power the steel industry thereby playing an empowering role in the industrial revolution.
